The Anchorage Economic Development Corporation is a private,
non-profit corporation operating since 1987. It exists to encourage
growth and diversity in the Anchorage economy.
The AEDC is charged with being a catalyst for "diversified
economic development." The corporation takes a holistic
view of this charge, given that Anchorage’s economy is tremendously
affected by business conditions throughout all of Alaska. Nearly
one in nine Anchorage jobs depend on doing business with the
rest of the state. Although viable business opportunities exist
Outside (and are aggressively pursued), prospects here in Alaska
also offer excellent economic development opportunities.
The Anchorage Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit, member-driven
business organization with more than 1,200 members representing
75,000 employees. The Anchorage Chamber serves as a resource
where its members can gain business knowledge, insight and strength
as business professionals.
The mission of the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce is to “be
effective as a business leader by supporting and focusing our
broad-based membership in their efforts to grow Anchorage into
a Premier American City.”
The Alaska State Chamber serves as the voice of business. Today,
the Alaska State Chamber of Commerce has approximately 500 business
members, represented by a 81 person board of directors which
includes representatives of thirty-five local Alaskan chambers
and the chambers of Seattle, Tacoma, Bellingham, Portland and
the Yukon.
The mission of the Alaska State Chamber is "to drive
positive change for Alaska's business environment and to improve
our member organizations by providing leadership, advocacy,
connectivity and support.
