Coffee on the Deck

I don’t know about you, but Spring is coming way too slowly this year. You know you are an Alaskan when you are shoveling the snow off your yard into the street so you can move Spring along. You start wearing shorts and a down coat at the same time.

Nevertheless, Cathy and I are determined to have our morning coffee on the deck, and although we can still see our breath, we are not deterred! Just between you and me, I even dared to try a little sunbathing to get some of that much-needed Vitamin D we Alaskans are missing. But then I noticed our neighbors were closing their shades and keeping their kids away. I guess a middle-aged guy suntanning in 40-degree weather does seem a little off. : )

It won’t be long before all of us will be exhausted – like proper Alaskans – as we jam a full year of sunny activity into a few months while living in the land of the midnight sun.
