“Habakkuk looked to God and ceased to look at his difficulty. That is the true basis of spiritual peace.”

– D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones

Part of the Sundog team since July, 2022 –  I am currently a Bachelor of Theology student at The Master’s Seminary at Anchorage Grace Church. I developed many tech/web skills growing up as a missionary kid, so when I discovered Sundog, I jumped at the chance to use and develop these skills alongside an awesome team of likeminded people. I am excited to serve the Alaskan community with Sundog for many years to come.

I was introduced to Alaska by volunteering at Kingdom Air Corps (located in Chickaloon) for the summer of 2017. After that experience, I believed the Lord was leading me to pursue long-term ministry in Alaska, particularly in the remote village of Anaktuvuk Pass. I was trained as a pilot through Kingdom Air Corps and served at a church in Anaktuvuk for a few winter seasons with my wife. We then moved to Los Angeles to pursue further biblical education at The Master’s Seminary (TMS). While the academic experience there was awesome, LA wasn’t our cup of tea. When we were invited to consider transferring to TMS’s extension site in Anchorage, we joyfully took the chance to move back to Alaska! We now live in the Sand Lake area of Anchorage and love the AK life.

I love being with my family: my wife and I have two little boys so far. We enjoy exploring God’s creation, going out for picnics, snuggling by the fireplace, reading books, and worshiping the Lord together. My hobbies include nature & wildlife photography, various sports, and hiking/backpacking.

When I was a missionary kid in Russia, most of our lives were centered on computer screens for school and English-speaking fellowship. My dad was a computer specialist prior to serving on the mission field, so I probably inherited most of my tech skills from his influence. I also inherited a love for art from him, and applied it to graphic & web design where I could employ my tech/art skills together. I taught myself most of these skills, but benefited greatly from online courses and tutorials.

My greatest love, by grace, is my Lord Jesus Christ. Thus, my primary inspiration flows from studying His Word. My goal is to obey and please Him by faith, aligning my desires with His. Another avenue of spiritual inspiration comes from reading Christian biographies – my recent favorite is Iain Murray’s two-volume set on the life of D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones published by Banner of Truth. I glean design inspiration from God’s beautiful creation, especially mountain scenery like we have in Alaska!
