Sundog has put together a winning strategy to monitor different aspects of your site’s performance so you are not left to wade through the data jungle without a guide.

Sundog’s strategy consists of a three prong approach:

  1. Minimize the effects of Spam & Bot entries and whenever possible, eliminate them entirely.
  2. Tie in with Webmaster tools to allow user-entered keywords to be viewable.
  3. Create custom reports on the most powerful and useful metrics our users want to see.

Sundog has customized a handful of reports to give you the most useful information on overall traffic counts, geographic location, goal completions, social media and keyword success. We add these custom reports to your analytics account and can give you a direct link so you can run them whenever you like and access your site’s most useful performance metrics.  In fact if you like these reports can be emailed right to your inbox.

These reports may be tweaked over time to more effectively answer our clients’ most frequently asked questions.   • All Traffic Sources. This report will tell you where your users are hearing about your site and how they interact with your site – there is the added bonus of finding where your goal accomplishing traffic is coming from. The All Traffic Sources report includes the following information:
    • Source/Medium: describes where your traffic comes from. The Source is the place users are before seeing your content, like a search engine or another website. The Medium describes how users arrived at your content. Values for Medium include “organic” for unpaid search traffic and “none” for direct traffic.Users: new and returning users that have had at least one session within the selected date range
    • Sessions: Total Sessions within the date range. A session is the period time a user is actively engaged with your website
    • Bounce Rate: Bounce Rate is the percentage of single-page visits
    • Pages/Session: (Average Page Depth) is the average number of pages viewed during a session
    • Avg. Session Duration: The average length of a Session
    • Goal Conversion Rate: The sum of all individual goal conversion rates
    • Goal Completions: The total number of conversions
  • Social Traffic. This report will tell you which of your social networking activities brings the most traffic, as well as which links are being followed from your social networks.
    • Social Network: Originating Social Network – where the activity originated
    • Shared URL: The content URL that was talked about in the social activity
    • Sessions: Total Sessions within the date range. A session is the period time a user is actively engaged with your website
    • Pageviews: the total number of pages viewed. Repeated views of a single page are counted
    • Avg. Session Duration: The average length of a Session
    • Pages/Session: (Average Page Depth) is the average number of pages viewed during a session. Repeated views of a single page are counted
    • Social Actions: The number of social actions that occurred
  • Goal Page Movement. This report will tell you how users of your site progress toward your goals. This can be important when determining page efficiency. NOTE: A goal may be landing on the “Thank You” page after filling out the Contact Us form; or you may prefer your goal be determined by how long a user remains engaged on your site or how many pages a user visits. Generally, we will use the “Thank You” page as a goal, unless otherwise requested.
    • Goal Completion Location: Goal Request URI
    • Goal Previous Step – 1, 2 and 3: The pages leading to the goal page
  • Geo Tracking. This report is very similar to the All Traffic Sources report, with the difference that instead of indicating the Source/Medium, the country of origin is indicated.
    • Country: The country from which the session originated
    • Sessions: Total Sessions within the date range. A session is the period time a user is actively engaged with your website
    • % New Sessions: An estimate of the percentage of first time visits
    • New Users: The number of first-time users during the selected date range
    • Bounce Rate: percentage of single-page visits
    • Pages/Session: (Average Page Depth) is the average number of pages viewed during a session
    • Avg Session Duration: The average length of a Session
    • Goal Completions: The total number of conversions
  • Query Tracking. This report indicates the queries users enter that bring up your site. It is limited to those queries where at least one click occurred during the previous month. Traffic that doesn’t arrive via a particular keyword and hence may not come via any search at all. This includes traffic coming from email, referral sites, or even
    • Keyword: keyword or phrase user entered (Not Set: arrived at site by referral or other means, not by search Not Provided: traffic for whom private info precludes inclusion in listings)
    • Sessions: Total Sessions within the date range. A session is the period time a user is actively engaged with your website
    • % New Sessions: An estimate of the percentage of first time visits
    • New Users: The number of first-time users during the selected date range
    • Bounce Rate: percentage of single-page visits
    • Pages/Session: (Average Page Depth) is the average number of pages viewed during a session

    • Goal Completions: The total number of conversions
